I think if modding something to make the product better is a good thing and the developers of these products should work with modders to create an even better product.

exactly, like i said, i mod pokemon games. nintendo hasn't officialy sanctioned it, but hasn't spoke out against it. as far as i know. all it is doing is giving their games new ideas, and better audiences. Like the half life 2 engine, has some serious mods done to it. I am currently messing around with Gary's Mod, its a sandbox game where you can create anything you want. limited only by your imaginaton.i haven't heard about Valve condeming that either. It goes to show as long as you aren't making a profit from it, pirating, or altering any hardware i don't think companies are too bothered what you do.

all i use my ps3 for is playing awesome games.

The Linux support is not a big loss IMO.
